10 conseils en matière de santé mentale pour la Journée mondiale de la santé mentale [par de vraies personnes]

Mental health has been a bigger conversation than ever. For World Mental Health Day we asked the Yop & Tom community — and people we have interviewed — what advice they would give someone struggling. Here are ten tips from real people.

10 mental health tips from real people

  1. Talk to someone you trust — a close friend or partner. Naming the struggle often shrinks it.
  2. Find healthy escapism — a book, a creative hobby, or time offline. Bullet journaler Kelsey Ryan started journaling to give her mind a rest.
  3. Allow yourself to feel — the full spectrum of emotions is human. It is okay to cry.
  4. Give yourself joy — list favourite films, songs and foods, then actually do one.
  5. Your feelings are valid — if someone dismisses your experience, that is on them, not you.
  6. Move your body — a walk, stretch, or dance break can shift a heavy afternoon.
  7. Write it down — paper gets looping thoughts out of your head. Try journal prompts for mental health.
  8. Set one small boundary — say no to one thing that drains you this week.
  9. Ask for professional help when you need it — therapy and medical support are tools, not failures.
  10. Remember you are not alone — most of us hit hard patches. Connection matters.

Using your journal

A wellness journal or lined notebook gives you a private place to track mood, wins, and what you need more of. Pair with seven types of rest when burnout is the real issue.
